Skin really suffers in the colder months – mine always does. Dry, flaky, red is not attractive! This winter a few key products hit my desk just in the nick of time that have maintained my skin as it was during summer – hydrated, soft, glowing and easy to manage. Here I’ll tell you about my favourites for injecting some much needed moisture and love into your skin…
Dermalogica – Three amazing products that I seriously cannot live without now. The best day cream on the planet! Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF30 from the Age Smart range. I’ve had lots of comments on my skin since I started using this product – it uses polypeptides, Glucosamine and Soy to stimulate collagen growth in the skin and fight off those nasties – read – free radicals. White Tea protects from incidental winter sun (and yes, the sun is still there, don’t kid yourself). My skin is firmer, clearer and makeup sits beautifully on top. $148.50 (well worth the investment for reversing signs of aging). Skin Hydrating Booster – I use this most nights under my night cream. It delivers high amounts of moisture in the form of Hyaluronic Acid to the skin, without any greasiness. Pro Vitamin B5 repairs damage and Algae Extract magically keeps skin hydration levels even. $131.50. Climate Control - This cute little balm stick lives in my handbag, its perfect for lips, cheeks (when sudden dryness hits) also for those other bits that get dry – knees, elbows and feet. Shea Butter provides a barrier for ongoing protection from the elements. Perfect for that skiing trip! $78.00.
Restylane True Hydration – A brand you may know little about, famous for their injectibles and from Sweden. This range is all about delivering hydration to the skin, filling out fines and keeping skin healthy and beautiful. Hyaluronic Acid and Retinol are key active ingredients. I love the simplicity of the range – its easy to understand the philosophy and the packaging is gorgeous. The star products for me are the Facial Cleanser - its a foam, but its oil-based. This is an extremely gentle formulation, so great for all skin types, the foamy-oil washes away dirt and makeup and leaves skin feeling perfectly hydrated and soft. Organic oils and ceramides leave skin radiant. $39.00. Night Serum – This is a very rich product, I used alot when I first tried it, don’t! its very concentrated, use just a little. Again if your skin is not used to retinol – use every third night and expect some tingling (this is normal). This serum delivers a high concentration of retinol which is amazing at reducing age spots, fine lines and bumping up elasticity. My skin looked all fresh and rosy in the morning. Yummy. $95.00. Dr.LeWinns Synergise – The Doctor’s new range is available in supermarkets – and is actually very good! The range is formulated with plant stem cell technology and contains the rare active Swiss Apple which is proven to regenerate skin and reduce wrinkles. Acai Berry, Green Tea and Pomegranate extract protect, sooth, plump and balance out skin tone. Again moisture magnet Hyaluronic Acid delivers hydration. My favourites from this range are the Foaming Cleanser, which comes in a massive 150ml tube which lasts ages. Its smells amazing, is oil-free, refreshing, delivers a lovely rich foam and zaps makeup away in an instant. Contains apple and pomegranate. $26.10. The Tinted Moisturiser will be a perfect choice in the warmer months – SPF30, light and delivers a sheer, radiant, matte, non-greasy finish. Green Tea and UVA and UVB protection. $49.99.
