Mary-Ellen Prendergast’s debut collection for Shen is 40 pieces of meticulously designed fashion championing quality, style and detail. Influenced by Asian aesthetics and European sophistication, Mary-Ellen has spent the last year preparing her debut collection, refining her vision, business model and skills to launch a range of garments that are neither trend-driven nor disposable.
Working with fine silks, heavy cable knits, leather, sequins, even a touch of faux fur, Mary-Ellen’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection is elegant and assured. The subdued palette focuses attention on the shape and cut of each piece, further drawing the eye to understated yet meticulously crafted details like leather shoulder pieces and ties, hand dip-dyed silk patterns and exclusive prints.“They’re timeless pieces that will stand the test of time,” says Mary-Ellen, echoing the meaning behind the name of both the label and collection.
