Winter is coming (yus Game Of Thrones reference FTW!) and I hate cold feet, so luckily I was just invited to peruse the new EMU range of footwear and apparel. Now let’s get things straight, I do not advocate wearing slippers as shoes, but man I love my new EMU boots for being the most amazing slipper I’ve ever slipped into. EMU are a family company established in Victoria, Australia in 1994 using both local talent to craft their wares and local sheep!
Throughout their enormous range of footwear, which also includes boots and shoes (the Elanora lamb leather boot is a fav, and only $299!) and apparel, one thing is very evident- quality. The core slipper boot products have Merino wool for the cushy lining and a tougher type of sheep as the exterior. EMU sheepskin boots are now also waterproof! Combined with a solid sole, these are an investment that will last you a long, long time.
They also have some really nice shoes, and slipper boots, for men, Brad Pitt even wears them. Also if you have a child you can’t go past the “Little Creatures” range. Oh my lord they are cute, lil ladybirds, crocodiles and monsters in various styles. It’s a science-fact that tiny shoes are the cutest thing mankind can make.
I was also impressed with some of EMU’s jackets and accessories. The ‘Coorong Jacket’ is a minimal biker jacket made out of Nappa sheepskin and is just unbelievably soft. At $799 it may seem a lot, but after you touch it you will understand. EMU produce some leather goods that run into the $2000s, so this is some serious quality we’re talking about. I also really liked the ‘Nelson Bay Jacket’. Made of woven Merino it is light yet will keep you warm and has a great interesting yet simple design. Retailing at $449 is also good value for such a great quality, investment piece.
EMU’s entire scarf range is also really nice. Made of super, super fine merino they feel like a mix of cotton and silk as they are so light, but will give you the warmth of wool. I also hate having my neck out in the cold, the more I think of it I really do hate the cold. Anyway, from $69 to $99 over the range of scarfs you too can keep yourself warm and fashionable at once. They also have a great range of basic Merino top styles. Made of the same fine Merino, which minimises itchy-ness and make them great for layering in the colder months.
The quality of EMU products really gives you the feeling of luxury, which is such a nice treat to console yourself over it being dark and cold out. Available in many quality retailers throughout New Zealand, and easily available for purchase at www.emuaustralia.com
