Luxury brand Donna Karan has recently launched her hosiery collection in our fair country. One of the common questions I was asked when unpacking and checking out my new DK tights that arrived a few weeks back was – why spend more than ten bucks on a pair of black opaques ? which I thought was a pretty daft question…Quality people. These tights last through seasons (when cared for well obviously) a cheap pair from the supermarket will last you a couple of weeks at most. Plus the added premium fit, comfort and using the latest in knitting technology and innovative yarns adds to longevity. For Winter 12 – three collections are offered. The Nudes range is developed with the innovative Sideria yarn in a variety of skin tones, no weird, milky-like tones here, expect a blemish-free bare look that come with a range of control top options, also the ‘toeless’ option – perfect to wear with sandals. Using a masque is a quick fix to give skin a boost before a big event or to remedy a skin problem – quickly. My skin is suffering from a bit of dehydration at the moment (working in air conditioning and inadequate water intake) so the Skin Hydrating Masque is my pick. Cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid forms a moisture net over the skin to deliver hydration to skin continuously. This powerful ingredient is proved to be 5 times more effective than the leading moisture magnet in skin care products. My skin felt beautifully plumped and soft for days after thanks to the skin retaining moisture long after using it, with the added bonus of shielding against cell damage and collagen degradation by free radicals and enzymes. Dermalogica’s expert tip is to add a few drops of their Skin Hydration Booster to really up the moisture boosting qualities.
“This hair look is all about preparation, so we started by washing and conditioning the girls hair, adding Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier to wet hair to prime it, then spraying with Perfect Setting before blow drying with a round brush to get a rich, smooth finish to the hair. After creating a low side parting and pulling the hair to the back of the head, we used straightening irons to get hair perfectly straight and the effects of the Perfect Setting helped us to manipulate the straightening irons though the hair and also made the hair stick together slightly as it cooled. The addition of the custom made classic barrette helped to create a wide low tail, with very straight edges and kept the hair flat to the head, for a small silhouette which worked brilliantly against simple shapes of the clothes” added Eugene.

Get the Look Start with clean freshly washed and conditioned hair, using Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner, to ensure hair is in perfect condition. Prep wet hair with Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier then add Wella Professionals Perfect Setting before blow drying with a round brush to create a smooth sleek finish.
Section your hair at the front and create a deep side parting. Smooth hair down and spray very lightly with Wella Professionals Stay Styled hairspray to add shine and keep the ‘flyaways’ down.
Pull your hair back behind your ears and use straightening irons through the back section of the hair. Using a wide barrette clip, secure your hair into a low pony tail at the nape of your neck. The ponytail should be wide and flat with straight edges. Finish with another soft spray of Wella Professionals Stay Styled hair spray to hold the look in place.

I hadn’t been in for a visit since July, at the time I had a few problems with my skin, pointedly dehydration and blocked pores – mostly from a bad habit of not exfoliating regularly. Facialist Holly instilled in me the importance of cleaning out the pores on a regular basis and clearing the way for treatment products to absorb – hence the use of oils, etc were not getting deep down in my skin. After sending me away with a few new products last July and some strict instructions on how to get my skin out of its naughty rut, I was very interested to hear Pam’s views six months on. Thankfully I didn’t get a rap on the hand this time and was told my skin was in beautiful condition, hydrated, smooth and had amazing texture. This obviously was very pleasing to hear!

I’ve gotten into a firm (Dermalogica) regime which starts with a deep clean using Pre-Cleanse (this water-soluble oil literally lifts dirt from the pores, then when massaged in with a little water, emulsifies into a creamy liquid that gives you super clean skin) I follow up with either the Special Cleansing Gel (great for summer and removing long-wear foundation) or the Ultra Calming Cleanser with is very soothing to use in the evening or wintertime when skin needs a creamy cleanser as opposed to a gel.

Toners – lots of us miss this step out. Using a toner saves you money. Fact. How? You spritz your face (my choice obviously is Multi Active Toner) it creates a moist hydrated surface to apply your day cream and makes it easier to spread around. Try applying cream to a dry face and you’ll see exactly what I mean. One pump of cream as opposed to three. The Age Smart range gets a look in next with the amazing (seriously can’t live without these 2 products) – the Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF30 and Age Reversal Eye Complex. Magic and have made a huge difference to my skin.

I then add in treatment products a couple of times a week and at night – twice weekly Multivitamin Power Recovery Masks and on alternate nights – Overnight Repair Serum and the MAP-15 Regenerator. Pam treated my skin to a salon-only Dermalogica hydrating serum treatment and a non-physical fruit acid exfoliation (again this is an in-salon only product) and used only after a full face mapping consultation. Pam sent me away with a new product to add to my skincare arsenal – the Multivitamin Power Firm, which I’m using as my eye cream in the daytime now, saving the retinol-based Age Reversal Eye Complex for nightime (retinol can make your skin extra sensitive to the sun)

To book your Facemapping appointment find your nearest store here
